Alison Hawdale - Co-Chair & Lead Lab Organiser

Alison has worked in biological sciences, science and technology policy, patient representation in the NHS and emotional development.  She believes passionately that, given the multiplicity of crises the world is facing, we should try UBI for the sake of people and planet.   On the basis of “if not me, then who?”, she has become immersed in the UBI movement and is now part of the team running the Manchester Lab.  At present, in addition to promoting this work, she is also a maths teacher.

Louis Strappazzon - Support Role Organiser

Louis has a degree in History & Politics, and a masters in Political Economy. He has strong personal reasons for becoming involved in UBI, linked to the failure of the system to support a family business in the past. Louis does a lot of the administrative work for the Manchester Lab, and is running an on-going project reaching out to young people and students to get them involved in UBI.  He works at present in an administrative role for the University of Manchester, and is a director/trustee of World Basic Income.

Dave Beck

Dave Beck - Co-Chair

Dave Beck is an academic and a lecturer of Social Policy at the University of Salford with research and teaching interests in (food) poverty and Social Security and is part of the coordination team of UBILab Manchester. Dave is also a co-chair and organiser of the UBILab Food, extending his interest in understanding how a UBI ends the need for food banks. Dave is also a freelance consultant working across food poverty organisations.
